Masterpiece: the pinnacle

Grand Vividus and Vividus. The Grand Vividus, designed with Ferris Rafauli, takes more than 600 hours of handwork according to Hästens. The Vividus takes 45 days or 300 hours, by nine craftspeople in a dedicated atelier. These are the beds at which the relationship between price and difference in comfort ceases to exist.

Icon: the heart of Hästens

2000T, drēmər, Marwari, Appaloosa and Herlewing. Since 1978 the 2000T has been Hästens' best-known bed: a middle mattress on a base, three spring systems, 2,258 springs.

What few people know: the drēmər, the Marwari and the Appaloosa are identical to the 2000T on the inside. Hästens' own comparison table gives all four the same number of springs, the same spring systems and the same height. They differ in design: the drēmər by Ferris Rafauli, the Marwari and the Appaloosa by Bernadotte & Kylberg. Choosing between those four is choosing how your bedroom looks, not how you sleep.

The Herlewing is genuinely different: also three spring systems, but one layer of pocket springs fewer in the middle mattress, 1,708 springs and 51 rather than 55 centimetres. Hästens itself says it cannot tell whether the Herlewing or the 2000T is better.

Essential: the way into Hästens

Eala and Maranga are two-part beds: a middle mattress on a base, with two spring systems and stitched-through sides. Superia, Excel and Marquis are one-part beds: a single bed with pocket springs above and Bonnell springs below. They step down in height, from 48 centimetres for the Eala to 28 for the Marquis, the entry model.

Every Essential bed has the same natural materials as the rest: horsehair, cotton, wool and flax, on a frame of Swedish pine. The difference lies in the construction: how many parts, how many spring systems, how tall.

Adjustable: the adjustable bed

Adjustable is a collection of its own, with a single bed: a middle mattress on a base whose head and foot ends can be raised, with a choice of three control systems.

What every bed has in common

Every bed comes in four firmnesses — soft, medium, firm and extra firm — and in combinations of these for two sleepers; the Grand Vividus and the Vividus also in extra soft. All beds in Hästens' comparison table are latex-free. As its standard size Hästens recommends 210 by 210 centimetres, which the brand calls ‘Viking Size’.

The Herlewing and the Superia also come in a round version. A topper belongs with every bed, and it often changes the feel more than the step to another model does.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the 2000T and the drēmər?

On the inside, none: according to Hästens' comparison table they have the same three spring systems, 2,258 springs and the same height. The difference is the design by Ferris Rafauli, with a headboard, fabric and legs of its own.

What is the least expensive Hästens bed?

The Marquis, which Hästens itself calls its entry model. The most expensive is the Grand Vividus. Prices per model depend on size, legs, fabric and topper, and are available on request from the dealer.

How do I compare the models side by side?

Our comparison page sets out the springs, height, weight and construction of every bed in a single table, based on Hästens' own catalogue.
