Why reviews of expensive beds don't work

There is a problem of timing. Almost every review of an expensive bed is written in the first weeks after purchase — exactly the period in which someone most wants to believe they chose well. The higher the amount, the stronger that effect. Nobody enjoys writing down that they spent twenty thousand euros badly.

The second problem is the source. Review aggregators live off traffic and affiliate fees, shops publish what suits them, and manufacturers publish no criticism of themselves. That doesn't make most sources malicious, but it does make them unsuitable for basing a decision on.

The third problem runs deepest: the account you are looking for hardly exists anywhere. How someone lies on a specific model at four in the morning, after a month, is almost never written down. What is there is about delivery, the salesperson and the first impression.

How to read them anyway

Give more weight to accounts from after two years than to those from the first month. The further from the purchase, the more honest the verdict — and the more often the complaints are about the real subject: a dip on one half, or the absence of the difference that was promised.

Watch whether someone writes about the model or about the brand. "Hästens is wonderful" tells you nothing; "I used to sleep on an X and noticed after three months that I turned less" tells you something.

And distrust any account in which no drawback appears at all. Every bed has one — too warm, gone soft, hard to move, the topper sagging faster than the bed beneath it.

What we are going to publish about this

At SleepSpa every guest sleeps a full night on one specific model. With permission we record how that night went and which model was ultimately bought. That produces exactly the source that is missing now: accounts from people who had no stake in their own answer.

At this moment that counter stands at zero, because we haven't opened. It says so too. As soon as there are nights, we will publish the numbers alongside — including the outcome that the models may barely differ.

Frequently asked questions

Are there negative reviews of Hästens?

Certainly, and they usually concern three things: that the difference from a cheaper bed turned out smaller than expected, that the bed sleeps warm, and that a dip formed on one half. That last one is almost always traceable to skipping the care schedule.

Where do I find independent Hästens reviews?

They are scarce, because almost everyone writing about it has something to sell or has just bought one themselves. Look for accounts from after two years, and for people naming a concrete model rather than the brand.

Can I try a Hästens somewhere without buying?

That is what SleepSpa exists for: half a day, a full day or an entire night on a Hästens in a real bedroom, and only deciding afterwards. If you buy, the amount comes off your order. Booking isn't possible yet — we open in 2027.
